Dillon Gymnasium Renovation

Irwin & Leighton was selected as the Construction Manager by Princeton University for its’ Herbert Lowell Dillon Gymnasium (Dillon Gym). Dillon Gym is a 150,000sf on-campus multi-purpose athletic facility on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. It was built in 1947 to replace University Gymnasium, which had burned to the ground in 1944. It houses a 1,500-seat gymnasium, squash courts, pool the 8,000sf Stephens Fitness Center, a 1,280sf Dance Studio, a 1,250sf Martial Arts Room, and a Spinning Room.

Key Highlights:

Phased installation of new fire protection and fire alarm systems throughout the complex

New locker room facility and gender neutral bathroom facilities

New finishes were installed throughout as well as new custom wood exterior doors built to match the existing original doors

New card access and security systems were installed at each of the new doors
