New Store at Springfield Mall
Target Corporation selected Irwin & Leighton, Inc. as the Construction Manager for their new, two story, +/- 190,000 SF store. The project included demolition of the existing three-story Strawbridges store attached to the Springfield Mall and the construction of a new Target store in its place.
The new store included entrances from the outside and the mall on both floors.
Key Highlights:
A strong focus on the safety of workers, visitors and mall customers was required as the mall remained occupied and fully functional throughout the project’s duration
Sequence of demolition and new construction along the existing common wall with the mall
Accelerated construction schedule due to a delayed start
Coordination of multiple exterior finishes (e.g., EIFS, stone, metal panels, concrete, etc.) and their interface details
