June 1, 2015Travis E. Gedney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Irwin & Leighton is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel J. McCullough to Senior Project Manager. A graduate of Villanova University and a LEED Accredited Professional, Dan joined I&L in August 2010. He most recently served as Project Manager on the renovation of Cabrini College’s Dixon House residence hall as well as projects for Saint Joseph’s University, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Lockheed Martin. He is currently managing the new Walmart Supercenter Stores I&L is building in Eldersburg, Maryland and Warrington, Pennsylvania.


May 14, 2015Duke Farms receives a 2015 25th Silver Anniversary New Jersey Historic Preservation Award – These competitive awards, presented by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Historic Preservation Office and the New Jersey Historic Sites Council, honor “projects, groups and individuals dedicated to preserving [New Jersey’s] architectural and cultural history.” The restoration of Duke Farms’ Farm Barn and Orchid Range was one of only ten projects to receive the award this year.
     The award ceremony, held at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park visitor center in Manalapan, NJ, recognized the contributions of the following project team members: Duke Farms Foundation, VITETTA, Architects & Engineers; Andropogon Associates, Landscape Architect; WSP Group, Engineers; and Irwin & Leighton, as Construction Manager. January 12, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton recently completed the new 96-bed Parker at Monroe community for The Francis E. Parker Memorial Home. Located on a wooded 14-acre site in Monroe Township, New Jersey, the ±113,600 SF two-story, state-of-the-art residential long-term care facility includes skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, a full commercial-grade kitchen, six remote kitchens, multiple dining areas, offices, and indoor and outdoor gathering areas. Move in for new residents began in early December 2014.

A graduate of Villanova University, Mike joined I&L in 2008 serving as Assistant Project Manager on a number of prominent assignments including projects for Princeton University, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, Princeton Theological Seminary, Franklin & Marshall College, The Research Collections and Preservation Consortium and Saint Joseph’s University.

giftsDecember 17, 20142014 Holiday Spirit Toy Drive a Success! For the fourth straight year, Irwin & Leighton’s employees generously donated new toys for The Cluster Outreach Center’s Annual Holiday Food Box and Toy Program that provides toys and food boxes for over 200 families in the Pottstown, Pennsylvania, area. Special thanks to I&L’s Holiday Spirit Committee who coordinated the drive – Debbie Jones and Cheryl Reape (Co-Chairs), John Purshock, Tammy Schaffer, and Jennifer Tull.

December 12, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton has been awarded the renovation of the first floor of Princeton University’s Hoyt Laboratory. The renovation, designed by the Zimmerman Studio, will create new laboratories and offices.


October 31, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton held a special luncheon today to express the company’s gratitude and appreciation for Joan Clark who retired today after 16 years of loyal service. A project secretary, Joan also worked with I&L’s Safety Director in implementing the company’s Safety Program, interacting frequently with all of the company’s superintendents and operations staff. Joan was also instrumental in I&L’s Corporate Volunteerism Committee’s efforts in “giving back” to the local community. The Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center recently honored Joan for her many contributions to make the annual luncheon a success (see below). We wish Joan well in her retirement!

October 20, 2014 – Construction began today on the renovation of Cabrini College’s Dixon Hall dormitory. Irwin & Leighton was chosen to serve as Construction Manager for the ±20,000 SF renovation. The design team consists of architect, JTA Associates, Inc., and Entech Engineering.

October 17, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton’s Committee for Corporate Volunteerism (CCV) hosted the Seventh Annual Veterans Luncheon today to honor a group of veterans who faithfully served our country in the armed forces but who are currently patients at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Following lunch, the enthusiastic group was entertained by John “Elvis” Purshock, one of I&L project superintendents. At the conclusion, each veteran received various toiletry and clothing items, donated by I&L employees. Funds raised by the CCV as well as corporate support by Irwin & Leighton covered the cost of the luncheon.

October 13, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton began construction today on New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company’s renovation of their offices in West Trenton, New Jersey. The design was provided by HDR A/E. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2015.


October 6, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton supported Saint Joseph’s University 15th Annual President’s Cup Golf Invitational held today at Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania. September 25, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton has been chosen to serve as Construction Manager for the upcoming renovation of Princeton University’s Dillon Gym. Built in the 1940s, Dillon Gym is mainly used as the headquarters for the Campus Recreation program. The facility includes Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms, various administrative and varsity athletic coach’s offices and is the home venue for men's and women’s varsity volleyball and wrestling matches. Atkin Olshin Schade Architects will provide architectural design for the renovation. Preconstruction services are underway with construction scheduled to begin in May 2015.

September 19, 2014Penn State University’s Board of Trustees today appointed Irwin & Leighton to design/build the new North Residence Hall on the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. I&L's team member – EYP A/E – will provide the architectural and engineering design.

Norristown Hospitality Center

August 19, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton’s Committee for Corporate Volunteerism sponsored a breakfast at the Norristown Hospitality Center today. Participating were I&L employees Jim Brecker, Travis Gedney, John Mullen, Joan Clark and Bernie Saemmer who served breakfast while Tammy Schaffer and Mike Hornberger helped straighten out the Hospitality Center’s pantry
     The Norristown Hospitality Center is a non-profit organization that provides a number of services – six days a week –to those in need. Services include serving breakfast, acting as a day shelter, providing crisis intervention, phone, fax, notary, and mail service. The Center also provides legal, medical, and mental health referrals, housing and job search assistance, transportation support as well as a host of other services. August 22, 2014 – Irwin & Leighton has completed Princeton University’s 2014 Fire Alarm Upgrades and Renovation projects. The scope of work involved interior renovations and/or replacement of the existing fire alarm systems with new Simplex Grinnell voice evacuation fire alarm systems in twelve dormitories and academic buildings. Engineering design was by Seeler Smith. This is the fifteenth summer I&L has completed summer renovation projects for Princeton.
